Prior to the program (Triple Bill Gender Night) Elli Bleeker will give an introduction on the imaging and representation of gender in our culture.
Elli Bleeker obtained her PhD in English Literary Studies at the University of Antwerp (2017) and works as researcher at the Royal Dutch Society for Science (KNAW) in Amsterdam. She publishes internationally on textual criticism and computational philology, focusing on variation in historical manuscripts. It’s from this literary perspective that she considers the representation of femininity and gender in our culture. How does language influence our world view and our behaviour? Can we transgress beyond our historically shaped patterns of thought and speech?
