Johanna Tengan, a choreographer at the very early stages of her career, is invited by Dansateliers to participate in the Residency Trajectory in collaboration with Azkuna Zentroa in Bilbao. Johanna is inspired by the Belgian poet/writer/journalist Herman de Coninck (1944-1997), who was known as the one who taught the people to read poetry. In her solo creation, Johanna wishes to embody his words, to physically and viscerally translate a direct experience to the viewer. De Conincks’ poetry allows a lot of space for the readers’ imaginary world. Likewise, Johanna wants to create work that gives room to the viewers own imagination. In the choreographic work Johanna creates, she wants to evoke a feeling of story that seems abstract, but can hold many layers.
